Inspection, Assessment, Repair And Upgrading Of Existing Maritime Facilities

ASIANFAST - JETTY REPAIRS
Batam, Indonesia 2015 - Present
Excessive movements were noticed on the deck of a newly completed jetty during the dredging works. TCL Maritime were appointed to inspect the jetty, review the contractor’s repair/ strengthening proposal and to provide support during the repair works. Following the strengthening of the jetty, TCL Maritime were asked to provide technical advice on the construction of a new sheet piled wall and to carry out the detailed design of the foundations and slab for a proposed new workshop.

REPAIRS TO QUAY 1

Batam, Indonesia – 2015 - 2016
TCL Maritime was commissioned to carry out an inspection and assessment of cracks along the existing Phase 1 capping beam. We found that some of the cracks were due to impact damage from barges but also due to horizontal cold joints during construction. TCL Maritime provided part-time supervision during the repair work and replacement of the steel edge protection plate.

PETRONAS CHEMICALS FERTILIZER KEDAH (PCFK)
JETTY INSPECTION AND ASSESSMENT
Penang, Malaysia – 2012 - 2013
Our staff carried out an inspection and assessment of the PCFK jetty and another jetty owned by Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB). Both jetties are used for the Export of Urea that is manufactured at PCFK in Kedah. Both jetties were found to be in good condition but needed localized minor maintenance. Both jetties were also found to be loaded almost to their original design limit and strengthening would be required if the jetties were to support additional loads.

INSPECTION OF SIX JETTIES

Hong Kong, China – 2011 – 2012
Our staff carried out an inspection of all the piles of various marine facilities at Tsing Yi, to provide a record of the current condition of the piles so that necessary action can be taken to rectify any defects and damages found. We also provided assistance to Shell with the underwater inspection of the piles. The inspection was a follow on from a fender inspection we carried out in 2003 - 2004.

JETTY INSPECTION
Port Dickson, Malaysia 2011 - 2012
Our staff carried out an inspection of the existing jetty, as part of SRC’s integrated inspection and maintenance programme. The inspection provided a record of the current condition of the jetty so that necessary action can be taken to rectify the defects and damages found. We also provided assistance to SRC with the underwater inspection of the jetty piles.

  • Brunei – Inspection and assessment of 35 year old liquid bulk jetty to determine its capacity and identify essential repairs for Shell Brunei.
  • Kuala Batam, Sarawak, Malaysia – Inspection and assessment of an existing jetty to identify essential repair to be carried out to the marine structures for Shell Timur.
  • Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia – Full structural assessment of a 50- year old oil jetty and design of upgrading works for Shell Timur.
  • Labuan, Malaysia – Full structural assessment of a 50- year old oil jetty and conceptual design for strengthening  and repairs of the jetty for Shell Timur.
  • Brunei – Inspection of 5 riverine stations and assessment of fender systems to mitigate risks of damage from 500 tonnes oil carrier and other small crafts for Shell Brunei.
  • Kunak, Sabah, Malaysia – Inspection and conceptual design of modification works to an existing jetty structure to handle palm kernel expeller (PKE) for TSH Resources Berhad.
  • Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia – Jetty inspection and accident report following an accident at Caltex Jetty.
  • Port Dickson, Malaysia – Assessment and upgrading of fender systems for the oil jetties at Shell Refining Company.
  • Labuan, Malaysia – Assessment and fender upgrade for the jetty for Sabah Flour and Feed Mills.
  • Sipitang, Sabah, Malaysia – Surface and underside inspection for Sabah Forest Industries jetty.
  • Kaohsiung, Taiwan – Assessment of collision damage at Pier 36 for Kaohsiung Port.
  • Guam, USA – Inspection and assessment of existing fender system at oil jetty for Shell Guam.
  • Bagan Luar, Butterworth, Malaysia – Assessment of a 30- year old liquid bulk jetty and upgrading of fender system to receive larger vessels for Shell Malaysia Trading.
  • Labuan, Malaysia – Detailed survey of jetty structure and supervision of concrete repairs for a jetty owned by Petronas Methanol, Labuan.
  • Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia – Inspection and assessment of the wharves to support operational loads from mobile harbour cranes for Sabah Ports.
  • Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia – Assessment of a 30 year old steel sheet piled wall (Quay 1) including diver’s survey for Malaysia Shipyard and Engineering (MSE).
  • Brunei – Inspection and assessment of mooring bollards at Muara and Kuala Belait Supply Base for Shell Brunei.
  • Kuala Batam, Sarawak – Consultancy services for repair and upgrading of existing jetty for Shell Timur.
  • Sibu, Sarawak – Inspection and assessment of a 25 year old oil jetty to identify precautionary measure to be taken to ensure safe marine operation, for Shell Timur.
